Bengaluru civic body BBMP to dissolve after 17 years of existence

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Wednesday gave his assent to the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, 2024 (GBGA), effectively sounding the death knell for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) after just 17 years of existence. Under the new Act, the BBMP will cease to exist, making way for a GBA at the top of the pyramid.
