Bengaluru commercial tax officer arrested for bribe

Lokayukta police have apprehended a commercial tax officer from Division-5 in Koramangala for allegedly accepting a bribe. Shekhar P Patil is accused of demanding ₹80,000 from a resident of Mahadevapura, Bengaluru, to 'reduce the pending commercial tax amount.' Reports indicate that Patil accepted ₹50,500 from the complainant but returned ₹29,500 to facilitate an online GST payment.
