Benin's government said it foiled a coup attempt on Sunday after a group of soldiers briefly took over state television and announced they had seized power. The soldiers claimed they were dissolving national institutions and closing borders, but security forces soon regained control. Interior Minister Alassane Seidou urged the citizens "to go about their business as usual".
