Bharatmala builds 22,223 km highways; rest targeted by FY27
India's Bharatmala Pariyojana has constructed 22,223 km of the 26,425 km of awarded highways by February 2026, with the remaining ~4,200 km targeted for completion by FY27. Launched in 2017 with a ₹5.35 lakh crore outlay, it boosts connectivity and cuts logistics costs. In Pune, ₹45,000 crore projects include India’s longest 31-km flyover on the Pune–Nagar Highway.
