Bhutan rains trigger floods in Jaigaon villages

Heavy overnight rains in Bhutan caused the Bhootani river to swell, sending floodwaters into the Upar Khokla area of Jaigaon in West Bengal's Alipurduar district. Homes, roads, and areca nut gardens were submerged under water, sand, and mud, leading to severe damage and economic losses. Locals say this is a recurring problem and have urged immediate relief and permanent flood control measures.
