Bihar man builds ₹2.5 crore mushroom business from hut

After graduating with a BSc and struggling to find work during the COVID-19 lockdown, Upendra Kushwaha started button mushroom farming in a hut in 2020. After his first harvest earned twice his investment, he gradually expanded the business. His air-conditioned unit in West Champaran now produces 10–12 tonnes of mushrooms monthly, generating an annual turnover of ₹2.5 crore.
