'Clean meat' startup Memphis Meats on Wednesday announced it has raised $17 million in a funding round that saw participation from Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates and Virgin Group Founder Richard Branson. The startup grows meat from animal cells by adding oxygen, sugar, and other nutrients to cells without slaughtering actual animals. Memphis Meats has raised $22 million so far.
