Billionaire and former Thai PM Thaksin released from prison

Thaksin Shinawatra, billionaire and former Thai Prime Minister, has been released after spending eight months of a one-year sentence over a corruption-related charge. A massive group of supporters, including the 76-year-old's family and political allies, greeted him upon his release, chanting, "We love Thaksin". He served as PM from 2001 until he was toppled in a military coup in 2006.
