Bird flu H5N1 detected in Chennai after mass crow deaths; govt issues advisory

An H5N1 bird flu outbreak has been confirmed in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, after hundreds of crows were found dead across the city. Deaths were reported from Adyar, Velachery, Thiruvanmiyur and Old Mahabalipuram Road. The government has warned slaughterhouse staff and people handling sick birds to take extreme care. Safely incinerate or bury carcasses to prevent spread of infection, it said.
