Biju Janata Dal (BJD) recorded a massive win in Odisha's Padampur bypoll on Thursday. Its candidate Barsha Singh Bariha defeated BJP's Pradip Purohit by a margin of 42,679 votes. Barsha is the daughter of late MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha, whose death in October necessitated the by-elections. Congress candidate Satya Bhushan Sahu secured 3,594 votes.
