BJP fields 4 Congress defectors for Assam polls, drops 19 own MLAs

In its first list of 88 candidates for Assam elections, the BJP has fielded four recent defectors from Congress, including former MP Pradyut Bordoloi from Dispur and former MLA Bhupen Kumar Borah from Bihpuria. Former Congress MLAs Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha and Sashi Kanta Das have been chosen for Katigorah and Raha, respectively. BJP has dropped 19 of its own MLAs.
