BJP loses Lok Sabha bypolls in UP's Gorakhpur, Phulpur to SP

The BJP on Wednesday lost the bypolls in the Lok Sabha constituencies of Gorakhpur and Phulpur to the Samajwadi Party. While SP candidate Pravin Kumar Nishad won the Gorakhpur seat with a margin of 21,881 votes, SP candidate Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel won from the Phulpur constituency. The Gorakhpur seat was held by UP CM Yogi Adityanath for 19 years.
