BJP to fight LS polls alone in Punjab, no alliance with Akali Dal

BJP will fight Lok Sabha elections alone in Punjab, party's state President Sunil Jakhar announced. This ends possibility of an alliance between Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP. Notably, the duo fought 2019 Lok Sabha elections together but won only four out of 13 seats. SAD cut ties with BJP-led NDA in 2020 over differences on the now-revoked farm laws.
