BJP wins Assam Assembly polls, party crosses the majority mark of 64

The BJP won the Assembly elections in Assam as the party crossed the majority mark of 64. According to the Election Commission's data, the party has won 72 seats and is leading on 10 seats. The key winning candidates from the BJP include Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who won from Jalukbari with more than 1.20 lakh votes.
