BJP's Surya demands 50% HRA deduction for Bengaluru residents

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya asked Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to review Income-Tax rules and place Bengaluru in list of metropolitan cities for purpose of up to 50 percent House Rental Allowance (HRA) deduction. As per existing rules, only Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai are considered metros and residents of these cities can claim up to 50 percent HRA deduction.
