Blast on railway line in Punjab ahead of Republic Day

Ahead of Republic Day, a blast blew off a portion of the railway track near Sirhind station in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib district and injured the loco pilot of a freight train, police said. The engine of the train was also damaged. Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal said he was "deeply worried and shocked by the reported RDX blast".
