Blind coder builds free app to help visually impaired people navigate

Blind Egyptian coder Mark Sedky has developed ScribeMe, an AI-powered app to help visually impaired people understand their surroundings through audio descriptions. The app works with smartphone cameras and Meta smart glasses, supports around 20 languages and is used in 140 countries. Sedky, who taught himself coding after losing his sight, created the app to overcome accessibility challenges.
