BMC demolishes 27 shops in Borivali after SC contempt rap

Hours after the Supreme Court initiated contempt proceedings against BMC commissioner Ashwini Bhide and withheld her November salary, BMC demolished 27 commercial shops on a 3,400-sq-metre plot in Borivali East. The land, reserved for a BEST bus station, had long been encroached upon. The court had rejected BMC's plea for 30 more days to comply.
