BMC makes 162 artificial ponds for immersion of Ganesh idols in Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said it has made 162 artificial ponds for immersion of Ganesh idols in Mumbai, adding 73 natural immersion sites are available. This comes after the civic body asked devotees to immerse idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) in artificial lakes to reduce pollution. According to BMC, 22,687 idols were immersed in Mumbai on Thursday.
