BMC to shift stray dogs from sensitive spots to shelters
Mumbai's BMC plans to house stray dogs from schools, hospitals, and railway stations in designated shelters instead of releasing them post-sterilisation. A two-year contract worth ₹13.35 crore is proposed with Janice Smith Animal Welfare Trust. Dogs will receive lifelong care, with GPS-based monitoring. The move follows Supreme Court directions on stray dogs in sensitive locations.
