BMW, Mercedes-Benz parent to merge transportation services

German automaker BMW and Mercedes-Benz's parent company Daimler have agreed to merge their mobility services business unit. Each company will hold a 50% stake in the joint-venture and expand their existing on-demand mobility offering in areas including car sharing and ride-hailing. The two companies will remain competitors in their respective core businesses.
