Boeing to fire 17,000 people & suffer $5-bn loss over workers' month-long strike

Boeing will cut 17,000 jobs, or 10% of its global workforce, delay first deliveries of 777X jet by a year and record $5 billion in losses in July-September over workers' month-long strike. CEO Kelly Ortberg said the layoffs are necessary "to align with our financial reality" after the strike halted production. S&P estimated the strike is costing Boeing $1 billion/month.
