Bombay HC cancels Ponda by-poll in Goa a day before voting

Bombay High Court at Goa cancelled the Ponda Assembly by-poll scheduled for April 9. The court ruled that holding elections with less than a year remaining in Assembly's term is arbitrary under Section 151A of Representation of People's Act. The decision came after a petition by voters and drew criticism from Congress, which alleged bias by the BJP and EC.
