Bombay HC quashes ₹9.27 lakh stamp duty demand on conveyance deed

The Bombay High Court quashed a ₹9.27 lakh additional stamp duty demand against Thakkar Investment & Finance Company, ruling that a subsequent conveyance deed cannot be treated as a fresh sale. Justice Amit Borkar held that once stamp duty is paid on a deemed conveyance, a later deed completing the same transaction attracts no fresh duty, even if property market value rises.
