The Bombay High Court recently served summons to the defendants on WhatsApp in a copyright infringement case, after they repeatedly refused to acknowledge summons sent earlier. Noting that the defendant replied to the message, Justice Gautam Patel stated in his order that if the service has been acknowledged, "then surely it cannot be suggested that the defendants had no notice".
