Bordeaux wildfire and how the blaze creates its own thunderstorms

A massive wildfire near Bordeaux has generated a rare pyrocumulonimbus cloud, creating lightning, strong winds and erratic fire behaviour that is hindering containment. Fuelled by extreme heat and drought, the blaze has displaced over 360,000 people, damaged forests and crops, and prompted a major emergency response as scientists warn such events may become more common in a warming climate.
