Brightest ever X-ray shows lung vessels altered by COVID-19

Damage caused by COVID-19 to the lungs' smallest blood vessels was captured using high-energy X-rays emitted by a special particle accelerator in the brightest ever X-ray. UCL and European Synchrotron Research Facility scientists used imaging technology called Hierarchical Phase-Contrast Tomography. It provides the brightest source of X-rays that's 100 billion times brighter than a hospital X-ray.
