Britannia employees offered up to ₹22 lakh as it shuts 77-yr-old plant in Kolkata

Britannia Industries has closed Taratala plant in Kolkata, one of the company's oldest production facilities established in 1947. All 150 permanent workers at the plant have accepted a voluntary retirement scheme, the company said. These employees were reportedly offered severance packages ranging ₹13-22 lakh, along with gratuity and provident fund benefits, depending on the remaining job tenure.
