British Consulate in East Jerusalem has ‘ceased to function’: Israel
Israel said British Consulate in East Jerusalem had “ceased to function”, with 20 British diplomats set to depart, leaving seven in limited roles. Meanwhile, the British Consulate General removed its plaques and renamed the consulate, founded in 1839, as the “UK Mission”. Israel had given Britain 30 days to close it after London sanctioned Israeli settlements in West Bank.
