British national booked in 1st case under new religious conversion law in Maharashtra

The first case under Maharashtra's illegal religious conversion law has been registered in Pune against a British national. The accused was allegedly delivering a religious sermon at a church in Guruwar Peth in an attempt to convert people to Christianity. The law states illegal religious conversion in ordinary cases can attract up to seven-year imprisonment and up to ₹5-lakh fine.
