BSNL told to pay ₹55 lakh after duplicate SIM used to steal ₹87 lakh from bank
The Karnataka High Court has ordered BSNL to pay over ₹55 lakh to a co-operative bank after fraudsters siphoned off over ₹87 lakh from the bank's account in a SIM-swap fraud. The court held BSNL responsible for the negligent issuance of a duplicate SIM linked to the bank's phone number. The duplicate SIM enabled cybercriminals to receive OTPs for transactions.
