Buddhist Monks in violent standoff with Thai police

Hundreds of Buddhist monks clashed with police outside Bangkok's Buddhist Dhammakaya Temple after authorities tried to find former abbot, Phra Dhammachayo, according to reports. Dhammachayo faces charges of conspiracy to launder money and unlawfully taking over land to build meditation centres. The scuffle occurred when about 20 monks walked to the temple entrance which was blocked by police.
