Budget should focus on bridging economic inequality: Ex-RBI Guv

Former RBI Governor Dr D Subbarao on Thursday said the Budget should focus on creating jobs and bridging the widened inequality in the economy besides accelerating growth. Citing the World Inequality Report, he said, "Such inequality...will dent our long-term growth prospects." He also opined that export promotion behind protectionist walls is seldom competitive and thus tariffs must be reduced.
