Google shut down '20% time' scheme that gave users Gmail, Gtalk

The '20% time' perk which allowed Google employees to work on personal projects one day a week and resulted in the development of several popular products, such as Gmail, Google Talk, Google News and Adsense, has ceased to exist. This comes as a part of the decisions taken by CEO Larry Page since he took over in January 2011.
