Cabinet approves extra ₹36,330 cr for HPCL Raj refinery to boost India's energy efficiency

The Cabinet Committee approved increasing the project cost of HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) from ₹43,129 crore to ₹79,459 crore. HPCL, which holds 74% stake in the joint venture with the Rajasthan government, will invest an additional ₹8,962 crore, taking its total investment to ₹19,600 crore. The refinery-cum-petrochemical complex has an annual production capacity of 9 million metric tonnes, which will cut India's import dependence.
