Cabinet Secretary urges bureaucrats to move beyond routine culture

Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan urged bureaucrats to avoid complacency and established routines, asking whether their experience amounted to "30 years' experience" or "one year's experience repeated 30 times." He said small changes in daily official routines could improve output. Somanathan noted that many officers had told him they needed "more practical guidance in so-called 'routine' matters."
