Cabo Verde becomes 3rd smallest country by population to qualify for FIFA World Cup

Cabo Verde, making their World Cup debut against Spain, are the third smallest country by population ever to qualify for a World Cup. The country's population is around 5.24 lakh as per World Bank data, roughly around that of the Indian city of Dehradun. They rank only behind fellow World Cup debutants Curacao and Iceland in terms of population.
