Calcutta HC rejects Abhishek Banerjee's plea to travel abroad for eye treatment

The Calcutta HC on Wednesday rejected TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee's plea to travel abroad for ophthalmic treatment, observing that there was "no reason" to seek treatment overseas when facilities are available in India. Banerjee is facing a police case over alleged intimidatory remarks made during West Bengal elections. The HC earlier directed him not to leave India without prior permission.
