Caller from Lucknow called me 'mad pandit': Bareilly city magistrate who quit over UGC rules

Bareilly City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri, who resigned over disagreement with the new UGC rules, said when he went to speak to Bareilly District Magistrate Avinash Singh, a person from Lucknow called Singh. "I was verbally abused, and the caller said, 'Pandit has gone mad (pandit paagal ho gayaa hai). Keep him hostage all night," Agnihotri alleged. Agnihotri has been suspended.
