Can persistent oral inflammation increase risk of cancer?
Dr Boppana Sai Madhuri explained that persistent oral inflammation-from ulcers, burns, or chronic irritation due to tobacco, poor oral hygiene, sharp teeth, or infections-creates a high-risk environment for oral cancer. Early signs include non-healing patches, burning sensations, or stiffness, emphasising the importance of timely evaluation, preventive care, and a healthy diet to reduce risk.
