Canada to contribute over ₹5,200 cr in EU-backed plan to help Ukraine fight Russia

Canada will contribute an initial €500 million (over ₹5,297 crore) to EU's €90-billion (₹9,53,469 crore) loan package for Ukraine as the bloc seeks additional support to meet Ukraine's financial requirements. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had asked for at least €70 billion in additional aid in 2027 to defend against Russia. Ukraine can also buy military equipment from Canadian companies.
