Canada's NDP to seek recognition of '1984 Sikh Genocide' in parliament

Canada's New Democratic Party (NDP) is set to seek the recognition of '1984 Sikh Genocide' in country's parliament on its 40th anniversary. The issue was addressed by Jagmeet Singh, who leads the party, at a Vaisakhi parade in Surrey. The 'genocide' refers to riots that engulfed several parts of India following assassination of then PM Indira Gandhi in October 1984.
