Canara Bank fined ₹96,000 for mishandling ex-Army officer's ₹4.5-lakh car loan account

A Chandigarh consumer forum imposed ₹96,000 fine on Canara Bank for mishandling a retired Army officer's loan account. The complainant, Vipin Bakshi, availed a ₹4.5-lakh car loan for 48 months with monthly EMIs of ₹11,209 starting December 2018. Despite Bakshi approving automatic EMI deduction from his account, the bank failed to automate deduction and kept taking ad-hoc amounts from him.
