Candidates' 'kalava' threads cut during UP police exam, govt responds

After a video showed police personnel cutting the sacred 'kalava' threads from candidates' wrists at the exam centre in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board issued a statement on X. "Disciplinary action will be ensured against the guilty personnel," it said. The Board clarified that officials had already been instructed not to remove religious symbols such as a kalava.
