Carbohydrate craving may be due to depression, not hunger: Study
A new study has found that although patients with depression generally have low appetite, they crave carbohydrate-rich foods. Carbohydrate cravings are more related to the overall severity of depression, especially anxiety, researchers said. As per a doctor, carbohydrates provide a "feel-good factor" by stimulating the brain's reward system, specifically the limbic system, which releases dopamine.
