Catalyst that converts CO₂ to ethanol developed

Researchers at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea have developed a catalyst that converts carbon dioxide (CO₂) into ethanol using electricity. The catalyst, in which copper and zinc atoms are positioned directly next to each other on a carbon support, achieved a 69% ethanol Faradaic efficiency, which indicates how much of the electrical charge contributes to producing the desired chemical.
