CBI and ED directors can have a maximum tenure of 5 years: SC

The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the directors of CBI and ED can have a maximum tenure of five years. The court cited its 1997 verdict that the CBI Director shall have a minimum tenure of two years. It said that the tenure can be extended one year at a time "subject to the maximum period of five years".
