CBSE mandates education in mother tongue till class 5th

CBSE has directed affiliated schools to map mother tongue of the student, and prepare to teach in them at the primary level, aligning with NEP 2020. While mother tongue teaching may begin in July, schools in diverse cities face challenges. This is the first time CBSE has signalled mandatory use, moving beyond previous advisories promoting regional language instruction.
