Centre approves 6-month extension for West Bengal Chief Secretary

The Central government on Thursday approved a six-month extension for West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Agarwal. His extended tenure will run from August 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. The approval comes after the state government sought the extension on July 15. Agarwal, who was appointed Chief Secretary on May 11, was originally scheduled to retire on July 31.
