Centre extends permit exemption for EVs, green commercial vehicles

The Centre has extended the permit exemption for electric commercial vehicles and expanded the benefit to passenger and goods vehicles powered by ethanol, methanol and hydrogen. The seven-year exemption aims to promote cleaner transport technologies. Eligible vehicles must be fitted with vehicle tracking systems complying with specifications given in AIS-140 to avail of the permit-free status.
